"The best show we have ever held at The Luminaire was Billy Joe Shaver. Period".
John Donnelly....Owner of The Luminaire
The Luminaire loves Billy Joe Shaver.
Billy Joe Shaver is back. Billy’s last performance at The Luminaire will be forever remembered in history, as 2 of the songs from that wonderful show made there way onto Billy’s Greatest Hits album. The show was one of those VERY special nights where everything just worked and the show simply took off. People who were in the audience, that knew little about Billy, left as die hard fans. And people who knew exactly who he was, left knowing they had just witnessed a religious musical experience. So we decided to have Billy come play on a Sunday....and have a 'Church Of Billy Joe Shaver' evening....where we can all go worship the gods of Country Music. We are delighted to have the original ’Honky Tonk Hero’ back in London with the full band for a one off performance.
We urge you all to attend what is destined to be an amazing night and bring all and anyone you know to see this legendary performer. Support real music and come see Billy live for an intimate performance of songs and stories.
Come see why Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Joe Ely, Dale Watson...and just about anyone who is anyone in country music holds Shaver and his songwriting in such high regard.
"He is my favourite songwriter". - Johnny Cash
"He is just about the best living songwriter out there". - Willie Nelson
Supporting is Christopher Rees. "Deliciously raw and spellbinding...A wonderful homespun triumph". (Phill Alexander, Editor in Chief, Mojo)
"A compelling set of vocal theatrics and spectral blues communion". (Uncut)
"From the first backwater banjo intro, it’s a genuinely roots affair that moves through songs of death and danger to wonderfully tender and totally melodic ballads that seems to hang on the most fragile of backdrops. A release that reveals more of itself each time it is reprised Cautionary Tales deserves to be admired". (Mojo)
